Description
This is a hand turned Holly striker. Holly is a domestic wood that is excellent turning, carving, and inlay. Very rare due to the slow rate of growth and small size of the trees that are harvested. Must be cut in winter to avoid blue-stain or graying of the wood. Holly ranges in color from white to ivory. Holly has a very close irregular grain with little or no discernible figure. Hickory has a Janka Hardness rating of 1020. These strikers are intended to be used for “close work”. For example, tree calling to a roosted bird or finishing a bird within 70 yards.
